Energy Saving Benefits

Energy Saving Calculator

Input your average monthly energy costs and click the "Calculate Savings" button. Your 35% Estimated Energy Savings over 10 years will appear to the far right.

The Savings figure calculated above is reached by multiplying the average monthly energy costs amount you chose by 12 to reach the first year's total costs. Since it is estimated that energy costs will increase 5% per year, 5% of the first year's costs is added to achieve the second year's costs, then 5% of the second year's costs is added to the second year to reach the third year's costs, and so on to get the total energy costs for 10 years. Then 35% of that total is what appears as your Estimated Energy Savings over 10 years.

With energy costs soaring, renovating your home with new windows, siding and roofing from Energy Guard, will not only add value but save you money, everyday.

For example, Westar Energy of Kansas' customers saw an average 11 percent increase in energy bills starting in February of 2009, with the full increases implemented by March. Residential customers now pay an additional $6 to $9 a month. In January of 2010, Kansas regulators approved a $17 million rate increase for the state's largest electric company. The Kansas Corporation Commission said that residential customers of Westar Energy Inc. would see an average increase of $1 in their monthly bills, or 1.3 percent. With Energy Guard energy-efficient windows, siding and roofing you can fight the rising costs of utilities. Just see for yourself.

An average house featuring 15 of our windows can save you approximately $150 a year on your utility bills. You can expect full payback on your initial investment in about 15 years.

Siding – Insulated Vinyl

Perhaps no other building material plays such a key role in improving the energy-efficiency of your home more than new siding. It not only protects your house against the harshest elements of nature, but is a major factor in improving your home's appearance, architectural character, and value.

A vinyl siding replacement can recover more than 80% of its initial cost at resale, according to Remodeling Magazine's 2008 Cost vs. Value Report.

According to 2008 U.S. Census Bureau data, Vinyl is the most popular choice for home siding today in the U.S. It is strong, long-lasting, and available in many styles and colors. Color permeates the material and won't reveal nicks and scratches.

Our vinyl siding is sure to maintain its appearance in extreme temperatures, providing resistance to high winds and retain its color for a LIFETIME.

Roofing - Steel

Steel roofing is the most popular material available in roofing today for the energy-efficient minded homeowner. And it's no wonder. Steel is strong, durable, fire-resistant and can withstand the severe weather of Kansas and the Midwest. By reflecting sunlight away from the home, steel roofing prevents the heat from entering your home, keeps your attic and interior cooler in summer and contains the heat better in winter.

Of course, Energy Guard also specializes in Class 4 laminated, impact-resistant roofing which has many of the energy-efficient qualities of steel. Both will save you money on your utilities and possibly your insurance premiums, while improving the beauty and value of your home.
